Tiverton is the best choice for a whale-cruise. If you agree with Tom that an inflatable is the best way to experience marine-life, you should note that Ocean Explorations is the original operation of this kind in Nova Scotia!! There are somewhat similar charters available now, but most are shorter, sometimes rushed "express" trips, that do not offer the facilities or credentials that biologist Tom Goodwin has. Our trips are scheduled with ample time, in case whales are far away or hard to find. | |
We strongly recommend you leave lots of extra time. Assuming no delays or stops and direct ferry connection (normally, ferry leaves mainland side at 30 minutes past hour 10:30, 11:30..etc.Tiverton is approximately 45 minutes from Digby, 60 from Annapolis Royal,100 from Yarmouth or Kedj.National Park, and 3(+) hours from Halifax(Hwy101), or Lunenburg. The link below gives directions to the community of EAST FERRY where you catch the car ferry to Tiverton. In the mapping page (after you've gone to the link) simply change "Annapolis Royal" to: Smith's Cove, Yarmouth, Wolfville, Halifax OR wherever you are coming from. It is BETTER to turn at the "Middle Cross Road" in Marshalltown than it is to go through the town of Digby. There are many signs for this turn in Marshalltown.
